WELCOME TO GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING

The title of today’s episode is: LOVE ONE ANOTHER

The message of the gospel is to love one another. This is often misrepresented that we should embrace people’s sin. Because God is so loving, we should not offend them by telling them the truth. But we are not showing them God’s love if we don’t tell them the truth. It can be done with compassion and kindness. But allowing them to continue down a sinful path because we don’t want to upset them, is like watching someone walk out in front of a train and we don’t stop them because we don’t want to hurt their feeling by yelling at them to get out of the way.  We can love the sinner and hate the sin. That is what God does, he loves the sinner and hates the sin.

I John 3:11-15 –For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. 12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous. 13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. 14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Cain slew able because of jealousy and hatred. Able was righteous and did what was good in the sight of God. Cain killed his brother because he chose a path of evil.

God’s laws are so pure that he considers hate equal with murder. Human beings act like they believe that there are different levels of sin. Many judge others to be worse than they are, but that is not how God judges sin.  All sin is us breaking God’s laws.

The only question that we need to ask about sin is are those sins under the bloods of Jesus. Because if they are the are inconsequential. God will remember them no more. If they are not under the blood then all sin is equal from telling a lie to murder. Sin is sin.

Many places in the gospels Jesus shows us by example how to have compassion. The parable of the good Samaritan comes to mind. The Samaritan showed compassion to the hurting man that was left in the roadway. This was after others has passed him by even a priest. But the one that showed God’s love and compassion was the one who treated his wounds and then took him to an inn to rest until he healed.

Questions to think about today. How can we show others God’s love today? What do I need to change in me to be more compassionate?

Until next time,
