WELCOME TO GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING

THE TITLE FOR TODAY’S EPISODE:  BEING LEAD BY THE SPIRIT

There is none so blind as the one who refuses to see. People often have different opinions. As they go about debating it, the conversation becomes about who is right and not what is right. When it turns to an argument everyone loses.

When approaching the scriptures, I believe it is wrong to argue over the meaning of verses.  Everyone’s opinion is filtered through the lens of their experience. There can be unity in the body if we pray sincerely for the truth to be revealed. Then have an open mind enough to admit that we don’t know it all.

When we approach a discussion with a rigid, prideful attitude, then nothing will be accomplished. This was how the Pharisees were, they had very rigid, judgmental ideas about everything. Not even Jesus could change their minds. That is how stuck they were on their ideas about God’s will and plan for man.

Stop and think about your approach to the word of God. Is your denomination a hill that you have chosen to die on? In other words, are you so convinced that you are right that you are not the least bit open minded.

We are entering a time when God is going to unite the body. He cannot come back for a bride that is in pieces. He wants a united bride. Now more than at any time in history we must come together and reason out God’s plan.

Matt 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

We do not want to be lead, by the blind. Allowing the spirit of God inside of us to lead us we will never be on the wrong path. God has not hidden the truth in his word, he will show us the way, if we ask.

I Cor 2:4-5 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Paul understood that man’s wisdom does not dictate God’s truth or plan. Our faith comes from the Lord. Wisdom and understanding comes through the power of God which dwells within us. We must allow God’s Spirit to lead us. Each and every one of us needs to pray for God to make his word clear.

He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. He will take care of us and will lead us the right direction if we choose to follow.

Jesus prayed that his disciples be one. I think he meant for that to carry over to all the followers of the gospel.

WELCOME TO GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING

THE TITLE FOR TODAY’S EPISODE:  REFRESHING

There are times when life can press us down. Our emotions feel like depression trying to set in, you have nothing going on in your life to make you depressed. This is a classic attack of our enemy. He wants us to feel helpless and hopeless. If we are feeling down, then we will not feel like praying, studying, or spending time in worship.

The enemy knows that just as our physical bodies needs rest to find energy for a new day. Also, our soul needs that God connection in prayer, praise and reading the word. We need new strength for our soul daily.

Jesus is the reason we can have hope and be refreshed in our inner man. Without him there is no hope. But with him we can live a life free of sin’s weight. We can live a life of Joy. We gain strength through praise that brings Joy.

PSALM 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

As Children of God, we must stick to the path that God has stretched out before us. If we do this, we will find joy for our journey.  The Joy of the Lord is our strength. But we have to be in the right path to receive that strength and joy.

Romans 15:32 That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

When we are battle weary and being attacked with fear, anxiety or depression we need refreshed. Spending time in God’s presence in worship will reconnect us with the Holy Ghost. In that connection is refreshment, strength and joy.

Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

When we repent there is a conversion or a change within us. Repentance is not a one-time thing then all is well. Paul said he died daily. When we ask God to forgive any sins or failures as his children, he will renew us. That comes from connecting to God through his Spirit within us.

All of our hope is in Jesus. He is our strength and peace. The refreshing and the love of God is given to us. That refreshing is like the sweet fragrance of a perfume filling a room. God’s love infiltrates every part of our inner man.

Romans 5:3-5  And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

As we pray and gain strength to overcome our tribulations we gain patience, experience and hope. We would get nowhere without the hope we have in Jesus.

WELCOME TO GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING

THE TITLE FOR TODAY’S EPISODE:  CHANGING IDENTITY

We all want God to move immediately when we pray about something. Our timing is not God’s timing. Yes, we have faith that he can move mountains if we ask. But sometimes we have to climb those mountains instead.  It is in the struggling, that we gain strength.

When I think about struggling, Jacob wrestling with the angel all night comes to mind.

Gen 32:24-28 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. 25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. 26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. 27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. 28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

This story in Genesis should be encouragement for all of us that change is painful. Growing in the Lord is always a struggle, but it is worth the struggle. God always turns around and leaves us a bigger blessing than we needed or expected. Because Jacob held on and wouldn’t let go God changed him. He was no longer the deceiver Jacob, but was now Israel. The man who would father twelve sons that would become the twelve tribes of Israelites.

With the wrestling came a name change.  God sometimes wants us to fight our way through situations. When we get on the other side, we will have a new identity. We will also have strength for the next leg of the journey.

It is easy to get frustrated when we pray and it looks like God is not moving. He is often waiting for us to step out in faith and show him our courage and strength. God desires to see his children be bold and brave in our faith.

After Jacob wrestled with the angels, he came out different. We are often changed by our battles and we have the battle scars to prove it. But those scars give us a testimony that can shine a light on the path of others. So don’t give up when it looks like God is not answering, he will be with you to give you strength to keep climbing.

As Children of God, we have changed identities. We went from being an orphan to a son or daughter of the most high king. Having access to the king has given us a lot of privileges not given to the lost of this world. We need to take our role seriously in the family and do all we can for the kingdom of God.

One day we will get a new name.

Rev 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

How has God changed your identity? How does he want to make more changes? Something to think and pray about today.

WELCOME TO GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING

THE TITLE FOR TODAY’S EPISODE:  NARROW PASSAGE

People do not realize how serious salvation is and how people are getting it all wrong. Many think if they have someone repeat a bunch of words famously called the sinners prayer that all is well. Show me in the word of God where one person was ever added to the family of God by reciting words after someone. I realize that some got their start that way, and went on to find Jesus for real. But many have been told that they are saved and they remain very lost.

When I was a child, we would recite the pledge of allegiance every morning to start the school day. But that didn’t give me allegiance to the flag. I didn’t even know what the words meant at that age. I feel like many repeat a bunch of words like I am sorry for what I’ve done and come into my heart. And leave the same way they came, because there was not true repentance. They go back out into the world and continue doing what they have done before; living a life of sin.

Jesus’ blood was not spilled so we could recite a few words and continue on our way unchanged. His blood is too precious to be treated with so little care.

People are under the assumption that we can come to God anytime we wish, but the word says we cannot except the Spirit draw us. Everyone is given multiple chances by God. But if people do not come to him with a truly repentant heart and then go and live a different life, they were never saved. Because the infilling of the Spirit does not come, without the blood being applied through true repentance and change.

Matt 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

This is Jesus’ words, he said the strait gate. Which is a small narrow passage. Few will make it through this opening. I understand he is talking about sin being a broad road. Salvation being a narrow road. The broad road is not only living a life of sin. It is also those who live a life dedicated to idols of denomination and false teaching, from the word. But we as the body have got to stop trying to repent for people. In the natural, birth is a hard and laborious process. It is a strain on the mother and the child. We can explain to them what they need to do. But stop telling them they are saved. You don’t know their heart?  Only God can judge the heart.

I know a girl that repented as a child. She grew up to live a very wicked life. But when you tried to talk to her about the Lord she would say, Preacher “ so and so” told me I was saved so I am good. As far as I know she died in a wicked state of sin without any true change. So I ask you to think about it. Does saying the sinners prayer at age six, then living any way you wish until you are forty make you a Christian? Does it make you saved?

Judges 12:5-6 And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay; 6 Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.

This is an interesting story you should read the whole chapter of Judges 12. There was a narrow passage like a strait. The Gileadites sat up a checkpoint at a narrow passage of Jordan. The Ephraimites which the were at war with wanted to go through the passage so they gave them a test. None of the could pronounce the word Shibboleth. They would say Sibboleth.  One letter difference. If those guarding the gate didn’t listen closely they would not have noticed any difference. But because they were vigilant they did notice. Their enemy was not allowed to pass through.

When it comes to people’s souls we cannot take chances without knowing and being able to see the heart. Only God can judge our hearts. We want to see people saved. That is one thing we all can agree on, and many have good intentions. But saying a pledge of allegiance to God will not change the heart. It doesn’t bring about true repentance in most people.

I hope you get the understanding of what I am saying. This is meant to encourage thinking about things and not an attack in any way. Time is too short for us to not get things right. There is a large harvest of souls coming. We must lead them the right way. Remembering how seriously narrow the passageway from death unto life; it is a strait path. “S T R A I T “as well as a “S T R A I G H T” path meaning not crooked.

I encourage you to think about what I have said. Pray about what I have said. Let us grow together in God’s grace.

GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING EP536 NOT MY CUP

GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING EP536 NOT MY CUP

WELCOME TO GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING

THE TITLE FOR TODAY’S EPISODE:  NOT MY CUP

Jesus prayed in the garden for God to let the cup pass. It was not an actual cup, but a metaphor for his suffering before and on the cross. In other words, he didn’t want to have to go to the cross. That was a cup he did want to drink. Who could blame him. The flesh side of Jesus didn’t want to suffer for all of mankind. But still he submitted and he said, not my will but yours be done. He willingly went to the cross because of his compassion for all of us. He wanted to protect us from eternity in hell.

But how many times do we try to drink from the cup that belongs to someone else. How often do we take on someone else’s burdens and try to carry them, when only God can help them. It is easy, out of our compassion to get wrapped up in other people’s situations. Before we know it, we are trying to fix their issues. When that is God’s job. We are trying to drink from their cup or Jesus’ cup.

Either way we need to learn to set the cup down and walk away. We have our own situations and cup that we must drink from to finish our race. I am not saying we cannot have compassion for others. It is up to us to encourage them and pray with them. But it is theirs to carry. It is often because of our love for people and the compassion that Jesus put within us that we desire to jump in and fix things. It’s not our responsibility. When we do this, we are overstepping and trying to put ourselves in God’s place. He has got it under control. He doesn’t need our help. He needs our obedience and for us to pray.

Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

His arm is not short, so he cannot fix the situations that we care about. He is not shaken by circumstances. He saw them coming and has already made a way of escape. We must trust his timing and his plan.

Jesus already carried whatever cup we are trying to pick up and carry. Every pain, every thought that needs taken into captivity, every burden of any kind was in that cup. That cup carried sin, shame, disease, mental disorders, evil thoughts, hate, bitterness, envy, strife, murderous plans, unforgiveness. Every bad thing the enemy could conceive, everything that God is not, Jesus took on himself. Not to become it, but to gain power over it. So, we too could have power over it.

That cup also carried joy. Think about that for a moment. His flesh didn’t want to suffer, but still he took spiritual joy in knowing it was for the good of mankind.

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Because he drank from his cup, he is our redeemer. We can have joy, peace salvation and eternal life.

Everything that we overcome in this life, we have power over it.  We then can use that power to help someone else dealing with that situation. The next time you find yourself getting caught up in someone else’s situations. Ones you know you are not meant to carry, pray for them and set down the cup. Then pickup the one you are supposed to drink from, because we are all on our own journey of finding out what God had in store for us. Finding out what he has for us to do for the kingdom.

We are all here for a purpose, we cannot allow the enemy to tie us in knots over things that we cannot control. Our only hope is to give it to Jesus. The author that holds the pen and is writing our story. He will lead us to the right path. He will not fail us.

WELCOME TO GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING

THE TITLE FOR TODAY’S EPISODE:  RECOGNIZE THE ENEMY

Today, I am going to share with you some things that happen, to cause us to question where we stand with God. Some may feel that they are overthinkers. Things get stuck in a constant loop in their minds. They think about how someone wronged them. The memories of the pain they caused is part of the nonstop reel.

They wake in the middle of the night and the reel starts playing, depriving them from much needed rest. But instead of realizing what is going on they will blame themselves. “Why can’t I let go? Why can’t I forget about this incident? I have forgiven them, Why, can’t I forget?”  They pray; they tell God that they had forgiven this person for the pain they caused. They tell God that they bear no ill will toward that person. They need to realize they have just been tied in knots by the enemy.

If they had slowed down long enough to think about it. They may have realized that this reel in their mind was not their thoughts at all, but it was put there by the enemy. The battle is in our minds.

2 Cor 10:4-5 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Every temptation, every time the enemy starts with reels of the past. Every time he comes to persecute you over things that are under the blood. We must bring them into captivity. In other word, say to the enemy, “I will not allow you to play your reels in my mind. I have let that situation go. You have no place in my thoughts.  My mind is not your playground. I take authority over you in the name of Jesus.”

If the thoughts try again, start singing worship songs and ignore it. When the enemy sees that he cannot get to you in that way, he will go away for a season.  We have the power to resist the devil.

Another tactic of our enemy is to try to cause fear. If he can’t get us to be caught up in being unforgiving or stuck in a loop of pain, then he tries to attack our identity. Are you sure you are a Christian? Are you sure you are really saved? You know you messed up last week, are you sure God forgave you? Then what we think is self-loathing starts, I am worthless, I am a failure, no one will believe that God called me, to do whatever your calling may be. We have to realize that the enemy will try to get us to give up.

2 Tim 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

When we get battle weary it is ok to retreat to a quiet place. Every military has different lines of defense. The front line is where the battle is, the rear area is where those who have been in the heat of the battle go to get food, fresh clothes and shower and much needed rest.

Sometimes we have to get in a quiet place and rest in Jesus. Just to sit quietly in his presence and worship. The word says when we wait on the Lord we will renew our strength. That renewal comes from the presence of the Lord.

WELCOME TO GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING

THE TITLE FOR TODAY’S EPISODE:  RELATIONSHIP

Heroes of the faith are often celebrated in the word of God as being rare individuals. But there have been many through the ages that have stood boldly and not bowed to kings and idols or ideologies.

Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Job, Abraham and David. Them and many others are in the word for our examples.

BOLDLY PRAYED

Daniel was told by decree of the king he could not pray to anyone except the king for thirty days. Did he go into his closet and whisper prayers to God for thirty days? No. Instead he had boldness and opened his windows, before praying out loud. He prayed seven times a day. This put him on a direct path with a den of hungry lions. He stood his ground and God delivered him.

WOULD NOT BOW

The three Hebrew men would not bow to an idol. Instead, they stood boldly and said, Our God is able to save us from the fiery furnace. But even if he chooses not to save us, we will not bow. They were thrown into a fiery furnace and God delivered.

THOUGH YOU SLAY ME

Job was tested and afflicted in everyway possible. The enemy tried to destroy him by any means necessary. God told the devil he could take away things from Job he could make him sick, but he couldn’t take his life. The enemy worked in those closest to him.  His wife said, Why don’t you curse God and die? Job held onto his faith in God. He said, Though you slay me I will trust you.  The enemy finally had to give up and God rewarded Job for his faithfulness.

CALLED THINGS AS NOT AS THOUGH THEY WERE

Abraham called things as not as though they were. God asked him to sacrifice his son Isaac. That would be a hard enough for a father but Abraham had waited many years for the promise of Isaac to be born. But he had faith in God and proceeded as God had asked. He had faith enough that he told his servant that he was going to the top of the mountain with Issac and that they would return.

Abraham didn’t know how God was going to work things out, but he trusted God that Isaac would go home with him. Because of the prophecy that God had given him about the descendants of Isaac, Abraham believed that Isaac would return with him.

I COME TO YOU IN THE NAME OF THE LORD

David learned to love and trust the Lord while out in the fields attending his flock. He learned that God would take care of him. That is why when Goliath stood against the Israelites with his word curses about their God. The entire army was afraid of Goliath because he was big and loud. But David was full of holy boldness. Who did this giant think he was to defy the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob. With his sling in his hand and five smooth stones he went out to face Goliath. He boldly proclaimed “I come to you in the name of the Lord.” He destroyed the enemy with God’s help.

Living a life fully trusting God is possible. All of the examples I have shared were before Jesus. They were under the old covenant when God was with them, but didn’t dwell within them. We are under the new convenant, how much more should we be bold. God lives within us. Most just don’t want to invest the time to get to know God. Remember it is all about relationship.

Many other people in the bible and since bible times have been bold like David. Some have had faith like Abraham. They have trusted God with their whole heart. Many have been martyred for the gospel because they would not bow down to the evil of this world. Each one an example of what it means to be a true child of God.

We too can be strong, bold, and full of faith. The word of God tells us that we can do all things through Christ.  He will give us the strength, boldness and the faith we need to get through whatever comes our way.  After all we have fine examples written in the word of God. It is up to us to invest the time to build our relationship with God.

GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING EP533 PRECIOUS OIL

CLICK HERE FOR THE VIDEO VERSION: https://rumble.com/v787zrq-god-focus-this-morning-ep533-precious-oil.html

WELCOME TO GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING

THE TITLE FOR TODAY’S EPISODE:  PRECIOUS OIL

As I think about God’s word and how there is so much there. I think about worshipping at Jesus’ feet. There is a story of two sisters. One named Martha, she was a planner and a practical one. Martha was busily preparing a meal for Jesus and those with him. Her hospitality was driving her to make everything perfect, but she was feeling a little overwhelmed. She complained to Jesus that her sister should be helping her.

It is not that Mary was lazy and didn’t want to help. But Mary felt it more important to be sitting at Jesus’ feet. She was practicing for her a special moment and didn’t realize it. But Jesus understood, Mary was where she needed to be at the moment.  Jesus told Martha to leave her alone that she had made the best choice. Mary had a heart of worship.

There are times we need to stop in the middle of what is expected of us and take time to sit at Jesus’ feet. Just as Mary chose to listen to the teaching of Jesus, instead of fretting over a meal. She learned to be comfortable at his feet. If she had not gotten comfortable at his feet, she may not have had the courage later to worship in front of a room full of people.

She would later take very expensive oil and anoint the feet of Jesus. To her it was worship of the Messiah. She didn’t know it was for his burial.  Because when they came to put spices and oils on his body in the tomb, he had already risen. When the disciples told Jesus to stop her, he told them to leave her alone that she did it for his burial.

Often expensive oils would be sealed in a container made of alabaster. The seal kept the oil from evaporating. The container has to be broken in order to get to the oil. This act of Mary was more than just simple worship, it was an act of sacrificial worship. That oil was expensive so it was a sacrifice to pour it out on Jesus’ head and feet.

There are many things we can use in the story of the alabaster box. In order to pour out our worship, we too need to be broken sometimes. Worship is an act of the heart. As we let God’s presence in it can break us down, allowing the worship to flow. Drawing us into a place of greater connection to God.

He understands our sacrificial praise, just as he knew how much that oil that Mary poured out on him cost. He knows when we sacrifice and worship even when we do not feel like it. But we push through our sickness, fatigue or overpack schedule to stop and give him praise.

This is precious oil, spiritual oil because we are connecting our spirit with God. That time of worship although we do not worship to receive but to give, God will in that time of connection, break yokes, encourage us, strengthen us. When we pour out our precious oil of praise and worship. That leaves room in us for God’s spiritual oil to refresh us.

Our attitude should be like Mary’s, no oil is too precious or too expensive. It is a privilege to worship at Jesus’ feet.
