WELCOME TO GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING

THE TITLE FOR TODAY’S EPISODE:  LIGHT SWALLOWS UP DARKNESS

The word is full of references to light. In the beginning God separated the light from the darkness. Down through time he has separated the spiritually dark from those who were enlightened by God.

Eph 5: 8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:  9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) 10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

The enemy loves to try to bring darkness to our lives. Sin is darkness. But God’s children are called the children of the light. Because God’s Spirit dwells within us. The light of God is within us. Darkness cannot stay where light shows up.

John 8:12: I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

The light of life is another way to say God’s spirit. When we follow Jesus we will not be in darkness.

Psalm 119:105: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

The enemy loves to try to plunge us into darkness. That is his domain, because he doesn’t want anyone to see the evil that he causes. The only way we will ever overcome the obstacles that he tries to put into our path is by shining light on it. God’s word is that light that shines on our way.  It is full of encouraging stories of how others overcame their attacks of darkness. The more we dig into the word the more light we will have on our path.

Then when the enemy comes spreading lies, trying to set traps and cause us to fall, we will not only see his trap, but have words straight from God to combat those traps.

We are children of Almighty God, we walk in light and not in darkness. Today, is the day to make sure you have on all of your armor. That your sword is ready for battle by knowing how to use it. If you never pick it up, you will not be able to use it when attacked by the enemy.

We want to empty our lives of every appearance of darkness, so that we can shine for the lost to see God’s amazing love and his amazing light.
