WELCOME TO GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING
THE TITLE FOR TODAY’S EPISODE: EXCUSES
The past couple of days I have been covering a few excuses that we may encounter when telling others about Jesus. Some are afraid of things they don’t understand. Others don’t want to give up the illusion of control. It is an illusion; there is very little we have control over in this life. But still we fool ourselves into thinking we have more control than we do.
There are people who have been abused or have low self-esteem and can’t accept that God would love them. Even though he proved his love by dying on the cross. They are afraid to make that personal. They may accept that he died for others, just not them.
Then you may encounter those who have chosen to believe that there is not a God. Because they don’t want to measure up, if he exists, they would have to change. They are happy with their life of sin.
All we can do is ask God to empower us with his words, do the best we can to walk in love and help those who want to know more about God.
Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
I believe it is wrong to argue with people over the scriptures. Because it becomes about who is right and not what is right. I believe we can express difference without it turning ugly. Then we need to pray for understanding and wisdom. We both can’t be right, but when it turns to an argument, we are both wrong in our actions. We could understand every verse and still be wrong if we didn’t tell others with the right attitude. Just jumping up in someone’s face and telling them they are going to hell will not reach the lost. Most know they are lost.
Reason can be defined as an explanation, to think, understand and form judgments by process of logic. The word tells us to reason together, in other words think, understand and form judgments by process of logic.
It is possible to have a conversation if people are willing to listen to understand and not listen to counteract or have an opposing point. We all want the same end result for everyone that we come in contact with to give their lives to Jesus. We want what God wants and that is for everyone to come to know him on a deep level. Until, they are completely lead by His Spirit.
I want to encourage you that many Christians have used all the excuses, before they surrendered their hearts to Jesus. Do not be discouraged, when someone basically tells you they are not ready to surrender. That is what all the excuses boil down to, they are not ready. Don’t give up, keep praying and letting your light shine. Keep showing them God’s love. It all comes down to the right time and God drawing them with His Spirit.
Until next time,
