WELCOME TO GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING
The title of today’s episode: EVEN IN THE VALLEY
Joel 3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.
One valley we never want to find ourselves in is the valley of decision. This is a reference in the bible to the place people end up when God is dealing with them to follow him. They need to make a choice to serve Jesus. Without him, we are nothing and have nothing.
One way will lead to a life of ups and downs with Jesus and then eternal life. He will help in trouble but will not spare us from everything in life. But the alternative is trouble here in this life and torment in hell for eternity. We need to do all we can to reach those people that are in that valley of decision.
There are other kinds of valleys. We often refer to what we are going through as being in a valley or on a mountain top. The valley often means that things are going wrong. We think of the valley as being a dark place. However, there are good things in the valley too.
In the natural world, not all valleys are deserts. Some are lush and green with beautiful flowers and edible plants. When we find ourselves in a valley we need to look around and see what God wants us to learn while there. Are we there to rest with him? After all, Jesus is the lily of the valley. We can rest in him and let his sweet fragrance soothe our troubled soul.
The mountain tops are great, you get views from really high up and you can look down and see for miles. There is a sense of accomplishment and awe once we reach a mountain top.
In the valley you can’t see as far, but what you see has finer details. We are able to get clarity in the quiet of the valley. He will lead us by quiet streams and let us rest in Him. Valleys are places of growth. God takes our troubles and gives us wisdom in return. That is what it means to grow in grace and knowledge of our savior.
It is in the valley; we can look over and see Jesus with compassion in his eyes. We ask him why we have to go through certain things we are facing. He just tells us that it is all for our good.
Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
In the dark valleys of life, we sometimes wonder how what we are going through can be for our good. Somewhere down the road we normally realize that what God allowed to happen, prevented something worse. Other times we never really understand why, but if the word says its for our good, then we have to believe it is for our good.
Even in the valley, God is still the way maker and a miracle working God. When things don’t seem to be going our way, we need to remember, that even though things look bad or may not be going our way, God is still good. He is still in control. This is where we open up our mouth and we speak to these situations, and we tell them to turn around. We need to use the authority given to us by our heavenly Father. We can’t believe everything we see or hear. Unless we hear directly from God. Because as much as there’s truth out there, there’s also a lot of false out there. Sorting through it all, it’s a full-time job. Most of us don’t have time or energy or the resources to research all this stuff that that is supposed to be true. This is why we must look to the Lord Jesus Christ he will lead us into all truth.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
If you are filled with God’s Spirit, he is there to be our guide and comfort. It says he will guide into all truth, not part of it, but all. We cannot go wrong if we learn to listen to the leading of God’s Spirit, even if we find ourselves in a valley.
