WELCOME TO GOD FOCUS THIS MORNING
The title of today’s episode is: “GOD CANNOT LIE”
What if you had a friend that it was impossible for them to tell a lie. Would you take them at their word even when things seemed too good to be true? Well we have such a friend in Jesus. He cannot lie.
Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
When God gives us his promises in his word, we can be sure that it is truth. Faith should come easy. But it doesn’t always. Often, we struggle when we look at situations through the lens of our experiences, emotions or intuition. God is beyond our human lens. This is where we learn to have child like faith. If God said it, we need to believe it and fully take Him at His word. (He cannot lie).
Heb 6:17-19 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
God confirmed two things to his children. Verse 18 says it was impossible for God to lie. The second thing is to have encouragement and hope in the Lord. Not just hope, but a hope that anchors our soul.
Think about an anchor. On a boat, the anchor keeps the ship from getting carried along with the current. When the enemy comes along whispering lies, trying to get us caught up in fear or anxiety. God’s truth is our anchor that keeps us from being carried along with the current. That way we do not end up at a destination that satan chooses. God’s hope anchors the soul.
We must remember when faced with the enemy’s lies that God cannot lie. His promises are real and true. I want to remind you of just a few of his promises.
Is 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
He tells us to not fear because he is with us and will give us strength.
Is 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
He will keep us in peace if we focus our thoughts on Him.
Phil 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
He will supply our needs.
Deut 31:8 And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
He will not leave us nor forsake us.
Ps 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
He will teach us and guide us.
Exodus 14:14 – The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
He will fight for us.
The Bible is full of promises and things God has said concerning His people. The more of the word we get on the inside of us, the more we will trust, because we will know what all He has said and we know he cannot lie.
