Matt 15:8-9 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
David was a man after God’s own heart because of his worship. God wants our worship. He craves our adoration. He doesn’t want lip service he wants praise from our heart. The Pharisees and Sadducees were the religious leaders of Jesus’ time. They had so many rules based upon the ten commandments it was impossible to keep. Most of them loved the adoration of the people, being a Rabbi gave them a place of honor among the people.
They would get out into the streets and pray long eloquent prayers, to be seen by man. They missed God. It was all lip service and for man’s admiration. It wasn’t to honor God at all. They didn’t even recognize God when he was right in front of them. If they had been connected to God, they would have known Jesus was the Messiah.
The children of Israel were delivered from their enemy, only to turn around and make a golden calf to worship. It makes me wonder about people today. Will we be like the Children of Israel, when God delivers us from our captors? Will we be so caught up in “our” religion and “our” ideas that we miss the move of God? I pray that we are walking close enough that we do not miss the revival he is sending to harvest many souls.
I pray we can set aside everything and run the race with passion about what God is doing. It is time we get real and stop playing around. We need preachers that will stomp on our toes and make us better. Not smile and feed us lies or half truths. The church in America is asleep. Although, I see small signs of it awakening, I pray we do not allow our traditions to hold us back as the Pharisees. I pray the denominational lines that have divided “THE CHURCH” will not get in the way of God’s plan. God never meant for his body to be so divided. Man came along and made rules, just like the Pharisees and divided the people over the doctrines of man. I pray God will break all the religion off of the church. Jesus didn’t come to start a denomination or religion. He came to save the world from sin.
God is getting ready to do great things in this world. It is my prayer that we are ready to give him all the praise, honor and glory for what he is going to do. I never want to be caught in a place where I am not worshipping him with my whole heart. I do not want to miss the move of God that is about to take place.
I encourage you, to seek God. Ask him to understand, he will not let us down. There is nothing hidden, that he will not reveal to us. All we have to do is worship him from our hearts. Trust in him to guide us into the fullness of truth. Ask him to reveal the meaning of his word. He will not let us down.
It is my prayer, “Search me O’ God and make sure I do not let you down. Help me to grow daily in wisdom and understanding.” It is time for us to get real before God and man. It’s time to be true believers. Not those who give God lipservice.
Have a blessed week my friends, BE BOLD, BE BRAVE AND KEEP YOUR GOD FOCUS.
